New this year is Light Magic in our Village, the only way to describe it is unusual, whimsical and fun! The kind of thing you have to see to believe! You will walk among a crazy assortment of vehicles and objects parked in downtown Chesaning on traffic-free Broad Street, trucks, farm implements, boats, whatever, if they can get it into town, they can enter it in the contest as long as it is decorated for the season!

Once again the Peet Community Center will house the Festival of Trees where you will find a fantasy of decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and gift items all waiting to be raffled. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be at the Peet Center to listen to children's wishes.

KidsTake part in the Chamber of Commerce sponsored Candlelight Gift Walk promotion and maybe win a Chamber gift certificate or a gift prize.

To celebrate the holiday, a number of local churches will be setting up outdoor nativity scenes along the boulevard.

The Chesaning Area Historical Society will host a special museum display and is also sponsoring a Word Hunt Fun Contest. Search out the words in various local businesses and if you win (must be 18 years or older) you will take home a Netbook.

Gingerbread Houses decorated by elementary school students will be on display in various downtown businesses. Other activities include an Arts and Crafts shows at the High School and Middle School and at the Our Lady Parish Hall, roasted chestnuts, live skits by the Chesaning Area Performing Association and live holiday music by the Brady Wesleyan Church Praise Team.

Beginning the same weekend, Santa's Village at the North Pole USA, the destination of the North Pole Express, the Pere Marquette 1225 steam locomotive out of Owosso, will run through the weekends in leading up to Christmas.
